DOVES
AND HOMING
Doves take very little looking after, and are very entertaining and
compulsive to watch. They need only a handful of food per pair, per
day, and access to water. Once your dovecote is installed it is the
time to "home" your birds. This involves confining the birds to the
dovecote, we recommend for at least 4 weeks; if in doubt leave a little
bit longer. The homing can be done in one of two ways.
HOMING
BOX
This is a wood and mesh cage that is attached to a single nesting bay,
giving the birds access to the nesting bay and cage. It also allows
easy access when feeding and watering, which must be done on a daily
basis. Grit is provided and must be given to the birds when confined
above ground. This is also a good opportunity for you to get to know
your birds.
NET
This is a large net that is placed over the dovecote, stretched out
tight and secured to the ground. This allows the doves to fly freely
within the net and become accustomed to their new surroundings. The
birds must be fed and watered daily.
Once the doves are established and settled within the dovecote they
will begin to breed. The young are reared by their parents and need
no outside help.
GUARANTEE
If for any reason you are not happy with the quality of our dovecote
you can return it to us within 14 days and we will refund the cost of
the dovecote. A collection charge is applicable if the dovecote is not
faulty.
Doves and accessories are not included.
